In the days of old was a Spartan king called Agesilaus. Born seemingly lame and cutting a small, insignificant figure he didn't look like a king, much less a person of royal blood. One day, at the celebration of a certain festival, the Chorus Director assigned him to an unimportant place where he was to serve like an ordinary man. He was to work just as hard as anybody else, away from his throne and his home, when he could be reigning in glory. This was a blow because he had already been ordained and destined to be king of Sparta. Yet he took pride in his new role and accepted his demotion with open arms.
He said,
"Good! I shall show that it is not the places that make men to be held in honour, but men the places"
